Worlds collide! Courtney loves that Trisha
By Brad Schmitt
Backstage at Hole's Nashville River Stages gig: country singer Trisha Yearwood.
Seems Trisha and Hole lead singer Courtney Love met at post-Grammy parties, and the two really hit it off.
In fact, Love's assistant called Trisha's manager and invited her to come down to the riverfront stage.
During the show, Courtney, who drew River Stages' largest crowd (about 16,000), told the audience that Trisha was "cool" and a "punk rocker."
She then, in her own charming, profanity-laced way, encouraged the crowd to give a cheer for Trisha, which they did.
After the show, Trisha and Courtney hung out. Trisha wanted to show Courtney the lovely Tootsie's on Lower Broadway, but she thought that might be a bit of a security problem.
So the two ladies enjoyed some post-show cocktails at the much quieter Loews Vanderbilt Plaza lobby bar.
Rock on!
River Stages concludes on high note
By Rick de Yampert and Jay Orr
"The biggest hits of the festival were{Issac} Hayes, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, and Hole...
"Courtney Love came to River Stages. She gleefully derided Nashville as a "Baptist town" during her late Saturday set on the main Riverfront Park stage. She climbed the stage rigging. She sincerely praised country star Trisha Yearwood as "cool." She caterwauled. She played scab-raw guitar. And she and her band, Hole, conquered.
Cementing very poppy rock and acidic alternative rock with doses of attitude and sheer look-at-me celebrity power, Love fulfilled everything a rock star should be with her stellar performance."
