Courtney in Rolling Stone Photo Special

The year-end issue of Rolling Stone shows photos of the past and the stories behind them. A photo by Kevin Mazur of Kurt, Courtney, and Frances Bean at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards is featured on Page 162 as well as on the cover. The description is:

"Backstage drama always surrounds the MTV Video Music Awards, and in 1992 the tension was thicker than a forty-two ounce T-bone. Nirvana refused to play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" which was nominated for four awards, preferring to perform a new song, "Rape Me." 'MTV was telling me to stay away from Kurt and Courtney," recalls photographer Kevin Mazur. 'They didn't want any more problems." A few minutes later, Mazur ran into Kurt Cobain carrying his newborn daughter, Frances Bean, through the artists' compound. 'You could see panic in his eyes,' says Mazur. 'He kept looking over his shoulder to see if I'd start snapping him. I didn't.' Later, Mazur was taking pictures of other celebrities while Cobain watched from the door of his trailer. Afterward, Mazur introduced himself. 'Kurt said, 'Thanks for not paparazzing me before,' says Mazur. 'Then Courtney popped out with Frances , and she said, 'You seem really cool, will you take a picture of the three of us?' I'm like, 'Fuck, yeah.''"

On page 169, there is a photo of Courtney, Martina Zborilova, and Milos Forman by Ladi Von Jansky with the description:

"While filming 'The People vs. Larry Flynt' director Milos Forman, his assistant Martina Zborilova and photographer Ladi Von Jansky, all Czech expatriates, were sharing a house on Memphis' Mud Island. 'Milos like to have people to communicate with in his language,' says Von Jansky. Budding actress Courtney Love came by to rehearse her lines, and Von Jansky, a longtime photographer for Flynt's 'Hustler' magazine who was serving as an advisor on the film, took out a camera. 'We were just, you know, horsing around, goofing, having fun,' he says. 'Martina' was pretty uncomfortable,' Von Jansky continues,' because Courtney is a big girl, and she first stood on the toilet, then she stood on the counter, then suddenly she ended up sitting on top of Martina. And Milos, I told him, 'Pose like a lion tamer.' I actually gave him a photograph that was signed, 'A lion tamer and his cats.'"

Courtney to play FBI agent in "Darker Saints"

MTV reports that according to Variety, Courtney is set to play an FBI forensics expert in the New Orleans thriller "Darker Saints" which should begin shooting in April in New Orleans and in Toronto! Full story from MTVnews.

Love on the Late Show on December 13th!

Courtney will be interviewed on the Late Show with David Letterman on CBS on Monday, December 13th! R.E.M. will also be the musical guest and are expected to perform "The Great Beyond" which appears on the "Man on the Moon" soundtrack.

VH1 Before They Were Rock Stars

Hole (probably mostly Courtney) is one of the artists covered in VH1's "Before They Were Rock Stars" series airing on Monday December 6th @ 8:00 pm ET as well as on Friday December 10th @ 7:30 am ET. Other artists mentioned included the Goo Goo Dolls, Billy Idol, and Chris Isaak.

VH1 Rock & Roll Women

This re-run has VH1 counting down the "100 Greatest Women in Rock & Roll" and includes a bit about Hole/Courtney. This airs Wednesday, December 8th @ 10:00 pm ET and also includes bits on Tori Amos, Exene Cervenka, and the Shirelles, among others.

"Any Given Sunday" soundtrack line-up

It turns out that Hole is one of the very few rock bands featured on the hip-hop heavy soundtrack to Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday" which is set to be released January 4th, 1999 on Atlantic Records. Looks like the song tentatively titled "Good Girls" that Courtney and Lil' Kim were working on will not appear here. The tracklisting is:
